To be successful in sports betting takes knowledge and skill, but understanding the odds is essential. However, there are so many types that it can become an arduous and seemingly impossible task. Fortunately, the best betting platform has the perfect solution, and Odds Converter calculator. A simple but useful tool that enables the conversion of any type of odds to another. This way, punters can change the odds to a format that is more visually appealing or easier to understand.
Formats and their characteristics
Among the most popular types of odd formats that our odds converter calculator handles we can find:
Decimal Odds (e.g. 1.5)
Used in many parts of the world, especially in Europe, they take into account the stake of the bet and show the total amount that you will get if the wager is successful.
Fractional Odds (e.g. 1/2)
Widely used in the UK and other parts of Europe, as well as in some parts of Asia, and, as its name implies, they look like a fraction and are often used to determine the potential payout for a bet as a fraction of the stake.
American Odds (e.g. -200)
Also known Moneyline Odds, since they usually show the amount of money that you can win or lose on a bet. When the odds are negative, they indicate how much you need to bet to win $100. When the odds are positive, they indicate how much you will win if you bet $100.
Hong Kong Odds (e.g. 0.5)
They work the same as Decimal Odds, but they do not include the stake. For example, if the odds are 0.5, you will win 0.5 times your stake, plus your stake back. They are mostly used in Asia, especially in Hong Kong, China, and Singapore.
Indo Odds (e.g. -2.0)
This format originated in Indonesia and is common in Asia, especially in countries where football betting is popular. They are similar to American odds, but they use 1.00 as the base and numbers are positive or negative. Positive numbers indicate the amount of profit for every 1 unit wagered, while negative numbers indicate the amount of stake needed to win 1 unit.
Malay Odds (e.g. 0.5)
This format originated in Malaysia and is mostly used in Southeast Asia, especially in countries where horseracing and football betting are popular. They are similar to Indo odds, but they use 0 as the base and numbers are positive or negative.
