Kalshi Review

The regulated prediction market for sports and real-world events

Kalshi is a prediction-market exchange regulated in the United States, where you trade Yes/No contracts on the outcome of real-world events. Sports has become its biggest category, with thousands of contracts on American football, soccer, basketball, tennis and more, and through VIP-IBC you can compare those prices with conventional bookmaker odds in one betslip.

Founded in 2018 by Tarek Mansour and Luana Lopes Lara and based in New York, Kalshi runs its exchange, KalshiEX LLC, as a Designated Contract Market under the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). Its own clearinghouse holds member funds and clears every trade.

About Kalshi

Every Kalshi market asks a question with a clearly defined outcome. A Yes contract pays $1 if the outcome happens and nothing if it does not, so a price of 70¢ means the market gives that outcome a 70% chance. Each market comes with a written rules summary that names the source used to settle it, and you can sell or close a position at any time before settlement.

That structure makes Kalshi feel more like a stock exchange than a sportsbook, and it is exactly why sharp bettors like it: the price is set by the crowd, not by a trader in the back office. On VIP-IBC you get those prices in the same betslip as everything else.

Sports

At the time of writing Kalshi listed around 3,700 sports markets. American football (NFL and college) and soccer lead the way, followed by basketball, esports and baseball. Table tennis, chess, lacrosse and volleyball are on the menu too, and the novelty markets stretch to city titles and award winners.

Types of bets

Beyond game winners you get props, futures, win totals, awards, to-advance markets and both-teams-to-score contracts. Combos, Kalshi’s version of a parlay, have their own order books, and a filled combo cannot be cancelled.

Fees are charged per contract and depend on the price. Under the fee schedule effective 7 July 2026, the taker fee is 0.07 × contracts × P × (1 − P), rounded up to the cent, and maker orders pay a quarter of that (0.0175) and only when they execute. The closer a contract is to 50¢, the higher the fee.

Unique features

Regulation is the big one. Kalshi is a CFTC-designated contract market, which is rare in this space. On top of that you can close or modify a position before the event settles, set auto-sell (take-profit) orders, and trade Kalshi Perps, its perpetual futures, if you want leverage.

Traders can connect through REST, WebSocket and FIX APIs, and there are apps for iOS and Android. Support for your VIP-IBC account comes from our own team.

Where is Kalshi available?

Kalshi’s member agreement bars users in more than 50 countries, among them the UK, France, Italy, Canada, Australia, Singapore and Thailand. International users who can open a direct account may fund it by debit card, wire (from $1,000) or crypto. On VIP-IBC, Kalshi prices sit next to every other connected source, so you see at a glance where the market and the bookmakers disagree.

Interface

Kalshi’s site is clean and white: category tabs across the top, the sports list on the left, live game cards in the middle and the order ticket on the right. Below you can see the Sports overview and the Tennis section as they looked when we took the screenshots.
