Saudi Arabia host’s Gamers Without Borders eSports event to help combat COVID-19

Gamers from all over the world are eager to join the fight against the pandemic and they will do that by battling it out in an eSports tournament worth $10 million!  Gamers Without Borders is a seven-week eSports event being held by Saudi Arabia that started on April 24 and will last until June 7, and it is open to gamers of all skill levels worldwide. Each week six tournaments will be held on an amateur level and the best player in each week will compete with pro players on an elite level. The tournaments will include 14 of the most popular eSports, including Fortnite, Call of Duty, and FIFA. On June 7, when the event wraps up, the winners will pick one of the 12 charities fighting against the pandemic listed in the tournament to donate the $10million prize to, which include the World Health Organization Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund.

The broadcast in question also includes a fundraiser so viewers can donate directly to the 12 charities participating in the event. 

The opening weekend of Gamers Without Borders drew more than 5,000. Almost 4,000 players signed up for the launch weekend within the first 12 hours of the announcement of the event with the global gathering pushing the events opening tournaments to full capacity by Friday, April 24.

The Gamers Without Borders event was created by the Saudi Arabian Federation for Electronic and Intellectual Sports (SAFEIS) in partnership with the Electronic Sports League (ESL), the largest eSports company in the world, and it will be streamed live so player and fans all around the world can watch and donate to this noble cause.
